Storage of crushed rock and gravel

Storage of coarse bulk solids

Gravel and grit are required as substratum for road construction and as an admixture in concrete. These materials are stored in large, usually concrete, silos and bunkers. High demands are made on the measurement technology applied here.

VEGAPULS 68 for level measurement in gravel and grit silos

Due to the high tensile forces and abrasion involved, a measuring technique that touches the medium is unsuitable for this task. The contactless radar sensor VEGAPULS 68, specifically developed for bulk solids applications, solves this measurement problem with bravado. Unimpressed by dust, abarasion, condensate, product dampness and filling noise, it provides reliable measuring results on the filling. Parabolic as well as horn antennas are available for dependable measurement of ranges of up to 70 m (230 ft). VEGAPULS 67 offers an interesting alternative to the ultrasonic devices often used for smaller silos. With a measuring range of 15 m (49 ft), the small, light radar sensor is suitable for a variety of storage silos in mineral rock processing.
